You can charge your car at any available domestic power socket. And, with an adapter cable that is available separately, you can also use the MINI Flexible Charging Cable at other industrial ("high-power") sockets with a charging power of up to 11 kW.
With electric vehicles, charging takes longer with alternating current (AC) depending on the infrastructure and the capacity of their high-voltage battery. In contrast, direct current (DC) allows for significantly faster charging. In everyday use, you should preferably charge at AC charging stations, at wall boxes, and at DC charging stations with lower charging capacities of up to 100 kW. This optimizes both the charging efficiency and the lifespan of your MINI electric vehicle's battery.
Particularly comfortable, fast, and safe charging can be done at home with a wallbox, which significantly reduces the charging time compared to using a household socket. The MINI Wallbox Plus has a charging capacity of up to 22 kW.
*The charging performance depends on vehicle equipment, the state of charge and health of the battery, battery temperature, individual driving profile, use of auxiliary users, ambient temperature, and the charging power provided at the charging station.
